Play and Creative Arts Therapy
What is Play Therapy?
Play and Creative Arts Therapy is a therapeutic approach that helps children in a variety of ways.
Play is a child’s natural language, it enables them to communicate and express themselves in a non-threatening way.
Play is essential for children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, creative and language development. It helps make learning easier for children and young people, including those who find verbal communication difficult.
Play and Creative Art Therapy helps children process traumatic experiences and upsetting events that have impacted their lives.
The therapist will support the child/young person's emotional development, to understand their feelings and thoughts.
Play gives the child/young person a space to act or play out traumatic or difficult life experiences in order to make sense of their past and cope better with their future. It can also help them to manage relationships and conflicts in more appropriate ways.
